The Influential Women That Have Changed Our World Today

All hail our power sisters in the world today. There are so many women taking the world by storm today however this is a small selection of my ultimate favs.

1. Rosalia Mera

CoFounder of Zara
Founded: 1975

Rosalia Mera, a Spainsh entrepreneur who showed women everywhere that if you want something hard enough you can achieve it. She self made businesswoman went from dropping out of school at the age of 11 to becoming the world's richest self-made woman in 2013.

Rosalia Mera began her career as a simple seamstress, who then went on to designing gowns and lingerie from home with her husband. From their the couple opened the first ever Zara store in 1975.

Zara famously changed the clothing industry forever when they found they were able to design and produce inexpensive styles that reflected fashion week trends and have them in their stores within two weeks. This was unheard of lead times in the industry with the average design to shelf lead time being around six months. In 1985, Zara became part of the Industria de Diseno Textil, or Inditex S.A. and remains part of the group today of which Rosalia owned 7%.

Unfortunately Rosalia Mera died at the tender ages of 69 from a stroke in 2013, where her net worth was just over $6 billion.

2. Of course I had to include the one and only B. Beyoncé

Musician

First Solo Album Released: June 24, 2003

beyonce

Voted Americas 46th richest self-made woman in 2017 and a believed net worth of 350 million.

A woman with her hand in so many pies alongside her hugely successful career in music she earns additional millions from; ticket sales, merchandise, her Ivy Park line, a Vegan food delviery line, brand endorsements, Parkwood Entertainmenet - her entertainment management company, the House of Déreon acting roles and finally Tidal, which massively increased in value following an investment of cash for 33% of the companies shares last year.

Beyonce's Formation World Tour alone grossed a quarter of a billion dollars. Wow.

When you look at all of the above you can understand where the term - 'you have the same amount of hours in the day as Beyoncé' comes from.

3.  The one and only Opra Winfrey

Best known for being a talk show host

Oprah Winfrey, the media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. Oprah has been voted many times as the most influential woman in the world.

In her career Oprah has hosted an interview with Michael jackson, a rare-prime time TV appearance which went on to become the fourth most-watched event in American television history and the most watched interview ever. The show had an audience of 36.5 million. She has also played her part in the film industry where she was nominated for an academy award for best supporting actress!

Born into poverty Oprah lived a tough life and now the 'Queen of All Media' and now worth a net of $2.7 billion.

4. Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel

Founder of the House of Chanel
Founded: 1913

"Success is often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable."- Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel

Another ultimate rags to richest story. An orphan who's mother died and dad left 'coco' Chanel was raised by nuns in a convent before she left to become a cabaret singer.

The strong rebellious woman that was Chanel wore dark dresses and often mens clothes. In an era where women's wardrobes were filled with corsets and gowns Chanel was breaking all the rules when she dressed them in sweaters and trench coats. From this came the iconic and trademarked "little black dress." She had revolutionised the entire world of fashion, by simply being herself.

In 1924, Chanel No.5 was released - the first ever scent to bear a fashion designers name. It might as well have been a bottle of liquid gold.

Today the Chanel brand remains privately owned and is worth $7.3 Billion (as of may last year) Forbes voted Chanel the 87th most valuble brand in the world today

I could have gone on forever about these amazing women and I could have written a list as long as I am tall. Just writing this has given me the kick up the ass I needed to realise that If you truly want something - you can achieve it! These women did!
